Living with Mental Health Challenges

having spent many years working for Mind in Somerset, where I have supported clients with a wide range of mental health disorders, I understand the long-term and often life-limiting impacts which this can leave you with. Although we cannot necessarily change this, we can learn a level of acceptance around what it means for us both now and in the future.

Mental Health Disorders and Diagnosis

I have previously supported clients with a range of mental health challenges including;

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

  • Health anxiety

  • Agoraphobia

  • Bi-Polar disorder

  • Schizophrenia

  • Clinical Depression

  • Emotional Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD)

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • PTSD and Complex PTSD

In order to be able to access adequate and safe support, it is important that these conditions are fully supported and managed by a medical professional. I am unable to offer a diagnosis or discuss medication.

However, I am able to offer a space to discuss what this condition or diagnosis means for you and how it is shaping and impacting your life.

How I can help?

Understanding the impact of mental wellbeing on physical wellbeing as well as understanding how it shapes our relationships, with others and ourselves can be an important step in accepting who we are.

I can help with strategies for managing anxiety and panic attacks, as well as helping to identify and change patterns of behaviour so that we have more control over ourselves.

Ways Counselling can help:

  • Anxiety management strategies

  • Space to understand the impacts

  • Learning what this diagnosis means for you

  • Rebuilding a life

  • Learning acceptance of where we are currently

  • Adapting life to meet your needs and capabilities

Whatever it is you need, whether it is space, strategies or a listening ear I want to help you to move forwards int the way which feels best for you, with compassion, patience and understanding.

Your diagnosis is not who you are, you are and can be so much more.
